Sylvia Karlsen Dragon Shifter | Female | 42 | 18/03 | Bisexual ☄Abilities Sylvia possesses the spirit of the Dragon. This special connection allows her to fully transform into a black, four-legged, 70 feet long dragon, with large wings capable of flight, and a powerful, destructive breath whose element depends on the element of the Mage she has a Dyad with. However, because of the immense power of this form, she cannot fully transform without having a Dyad with an exceptional Mage, anything lesser won't suffice. The spirit of the Dragon grants her near mystical capabilities, but comes with severe limitations. On her own, she can only partially transform in ways described below, and she cannot transform in more ways than one at a time. 01.) Dragon's Lifeforce: Even when not shifted, Sylvia, like a dragon, enjoys an impressive longevity that compares to that of Mages with in a Dyad, the limits of which have not been yet tested. She also possesses supernatural strength, speed and durability, and is somewhat resistant to disease and poison.
02.) Dragon's Soul: Even when not shifted, Sylvia possesses the ability to feel magic around her, either cast, or latent inside Mages. She has a limited magic resistance, and when a Mage makes a pact with her, it provides an immense amount of energy, to the point that a Mage that is less than exceptional might not be able to harness it and will be consumed upon forming the Dyad.
03.)Dragon's Avatar: Sylvia is able to transform parts of her body into that of a dragon, but because their power is comparable to that wielded by a Mage, only one such transformation can be active at a time, and she can only maintain a transformation for around an hour before she needs to rest.
Dragon's Eyes: Sylvia's eyes transform to those of a dragon, with silver irises and slit pupils. These eyes can see in the dark and can see magic in the form of aura, even able to tell the different nature of magic by colour. When locking gaze with someone with those eyes, Sylvia can tell if they lie.
Dragon's Wings: Sylvia can near instantly sprout wings, not as large as those of her true dragon form, but capable of flight at considerable speed and height.
Dragon's Lungs: When Sylvia changes her lungs to those of a dragon, she does not have an elemental breath unless she has a Dyad, but she can produce a loud roar. This roar is not physically damaging to humans, but can disorient the balance-center of the brain similarly to a sound grenade. She also is able to hold her breath for an hour.
Dragon's Blood: Sylvia is able to change her blood to that of a dragon, gaining regenerative capabilities and essentially allowing her to convert energy to heal herself.
Dragon's Tail: Sylvia can near instantly sprout a 8 foot long muscular tail with a sharp tip, that can wrap, slam or pierce through objects and people.
Dragon's Talons: Sylvia can change her arms into a dragon's from the elbows down, increasing their durability and gripping power, and gaining sharp, durable claws.
☄Dual Role In the face of society, Sylvia works as a waitress in a cafe/bar. Many might think that, as it's the case for Shifters, society confined her to this kind of job instead of allowing her to rise socially and financially. However, Sylvia chose this for herself, since it allowed her to come in contact with, talk to and listen to a lot of people daily, and keep her ear on the pulse of society.
At the same time, however, Sylvia is the leader of Earth's Defenders, if an ideology and decentralized group can have a leader. Through the merit of her power, charisma and determination she has created a closer group of people called "The First Line", who act outside the law, and are those who will coordinate the masses when the day comes for a collective effort, to bring forth a new day and a better world.
☄Appearance Sylvia is a beautiful young woman with a slender build, standing at a height of 5'8''. She has fair skin, gray eyes with an exceptionally sharp gaze, red hair that look like they have captured a sunset, and a voice that can melt a heart or ignite it in flames. Her gait has a natural grace, and she exudes an air of confidence. When not in her working attire, she prefers chic but comfortable clothes, often opting for pants instead of skirts and dresses to favor mobility.
☄personality Curious: Sylvia is a naturally curious individual, both when it comes to intellectual curiosity and the pursuit of knowledge, and also when it comes to the lives of others. She is interested in the reasons, motives and underlying causes behind events and decisions that take place, and tries her best to understand them.
Conversationalist: Perhaps tied to her natural curiosity, Sylvia almost always a good talk and often initiates it. She's as likely to start a conversation with a client at the cafe, a stranger waiting in line with her, or an opponent she has at her mercy after a heated battle. She is fond of deep, philosophical discussions, intellectual debates and stories.
Philosophical: Sylvia wishes to reach the fundamental truth behind the world and reality, and for that reason, philosophy interests her, the methodical pursuit of further understanding, and a foundations on which ideals can be based.
Determined: Sylvia's determination and strong willpower is one of the qualities that made people group around her and accept her leadership. Even in the face of adversity, when odds are against her, Sylvia will not hesitate to act and make quick or difficult decisions for the sake of what she believes is right.
Idealist: Sylvia, while having a strong grip of reality and understanding the truth of the world, is an idealist at heart. She believes that every big change or decision, every important action needs to have its roots on an ideal, and if the means one employs to reach their goal are not consistent with that ideal, then the value of that goal and its meaning have changed in the process.
Pretender: Someone with the ideals, personality and power of Sylvia cannot function as a member of the current society without wearing a "mask", and Sylvia has crafted a masterful one. Deceit is natural to her after all these years, and she can politely smile at a high-society Mage while taking his order, even when she has plans of killing them the same night. However, this takes a toll on her and stretches her thin, and she yearns for a day when she won't have to pretend in public and can let loose.
Insecure: Out in the open, Sylvia exudes absolute confidence, and she has used it to her advantage, to gather followers. After all, she has been chosen by the Dragon, and this can only be a sign by a higher power. However, many times behind closed doors, Sylvia feels doubts and daunted by the monumental difficulty of the path she has chosen for herself. Can she really do it? Has the Dragon chosen right?
☄strengths Strong learning drive and good memory:A natural learner, Sylvia has a strong memory that can commit a lot of information quickly. She also has the innate urge to keep reading and learning.
Instinctive understanding of how to control others' emotions and thoughts: Sylvia is gifted when it comes to influencing others. She has an innate understanding on what makes people's hearts respond to her words, and uses this to increase the members of The First Line, among other things.
Strong moral compass:Sylvia has a strong sense of justice, of what is right and wrong, and even when faced with difficult situations and decisions, she will try to do what is "right" according to her.
☄weaknesses
Can "freeze" her heart to do what her reason says is right: Sylvia has lived a difficult life, with more death and blood than the average person of this era. With her ideals and personal grudge driving her forward, and her desire to change the world and bring forth a better day, sometimes she's forced to take difficult decisions that might cost lives. She will try to avoid this if possible, but when necessary she will do what is needed with a cold face.
Can barely contain her rage: Apart from her ideals, Sylvia has a personal grudge against the Mages of high society, and all institutions that support and prolong the inequality that currently exists. Spurred by painful memories, sometimes Sylvia is filled with rage, a rage that feels like an ever-present flame threatening to consume her, especially when she uses her powers.
Difficult to trust, especially in order to make a Dyad: Sylvia's experiences and her position as the leader of The First Line have made it very difficult for her to open up to others. Especially when it comes to forming a Dyad, it's something she has never done, since she doesn't trust either another Mage enough, or even herself when wielding so much power.
☄history Sylvia was born in New Rome, as the only daughter of a Shifter pair. She lived the first five years of her life with her parents, who had a stall with candy and baked goods at the side of a busy street.
Eventually, a Light Mage, one of the most prominent and powerful figures among the Light Mages, learned about Sylvia's form, being that of a Dragon, and decided to claim her. He sent Mages to get her from her parents, which were ousted to another city, and pulled a few strings to make Sylvia "vanish" from official records, as if she never existed.
The Mage had decided to have the best Shifter as his Dyad. He educated the young girl as if she was a Light Mage, seeing her spark and intellect, but was always strict and rigid with her. When she reached the age of 16, he made a pact with her and was awed by the magical energy he received from the pact, unrivaled by anything else he had witnessed. In this moment of glory, he lost control and physically took advantage of her.
The Mage wasn't the only part of the pact who aquired power, however. After her initial shock and helplessness, Sylvia steeled herself and killed the Mage with a surprise attack, a breath of Light that destroyed the unsuspecting man and made it look as if a Light Mage had attacked and killed the man.
Sylvia then vanished for two decades, leaving the city behind. She lived in the widlerness and small towns, and trained herself and learned to control her powers. Afterwards, she returned to New Rome and started to study more about the past, and delve into philosophy, ethics and ancient history. It was during that time that the ideology of Earth's Defenders reached her, and within months she had formed her own group expressed by the ideology, called The First Line.

Disclaimer: Sylvia is probably more powerful than the typical Shifter. As the leader of a faction that will serve as resistance/rebellion/antagonists/whatever, and a mythical Shifter, I felt she needed the power to awe people, make them believe she can succeed in this task of tremendous difficulty and follow her. Boss-style.
Her personality and ideals are such that she's not one to go out and murder folks. With player characters I mostly plan to encounter them, discuss about ideals, plot with them and try to convert them, and leave if things don't work out for her.
For "terrorist strikes" against npcs, say "Sylvia goes and kills X important person", they must always be approved by admins first and will need to serve the site's general plot and the direction the admins wish for the site.
