earth's defenders
Throughout the last decades, the social conflict between the different social layers and the inequality of life standards between Mages and Shifters, or even between Mages of different elements and ranks, as well as the government's power and the involvement of religion when it comes to decision-making has given birth to voices that call for a change, even a violent one.
This need for change created a new outlook on things, a new religion, to become the driving force and vessel for those who wished to see the sun rising in a different, new world. This new religion, for some a dangerous cult, sees things differently than how they are narrated by The Temple of Meteora.
☄ beliefs Earth's Defenders acknowledge "the six Gods" that the Mettites worship, but they view them as invaders and conquerors, who have tried to claim and usurp Nature's powers for themselves, and call them "the Invaders". In the Earth's Defenders' eyes, their arrival that marked the end of the previous civilization was an act of war, meant to wipe out an educated and scientifically advanced population that wouldn't bow down to them, and then work with the survivors, who would be in a pitiful state, to shape them into followers and control their ideas and view of the world.
However, Nature itself, the innate Power of the planet resists this invasion from the space, and has granted its children the power to fight back against the invading Gods and progress faster by means of both magic and science, to quickly reach their previous levels of knowledge and science, now armed with magic as well. Nature also animated the wisest animals to further aid and bolster the number of humans, in their fight against the Invaders.
Earth's Defenders believe that those who wield Air, Earth, Fire and Water are gifted by Nature, and are meant to fight against the Invader propaganda, the status quo they have built and their rigid social and religious structures. Those who control Light and Void, which are forces from space are seen as champions of the Invaders, and need to be contained, jailed or exterminated, depending on how extreme the views of the Earth's Defenders are.
☄ teachings Earth's Defenders preach that Mages and Shifters should be treated as equals, brothers in arms and comrades, chosen to protect the planet in this dire threat. They believe that they need to resist in every way they can, for themselves and for the future generations to come. Some believe that somewhere on the planet, hidden, lies the "Throne of the Invaders", where the gods who have claimed Nature's power are. If they rally themselves there in great numbers, wielding their Dyadic Pact powers, they can defeat the gods and claim their planet back.
Earth's Defenders call for a change, their fiery determination and their preaching for equality has made them popular among the "downtrodden", Mages and Shifters who belong to the lower social layers mostly, who feel the current system has pushed them down and done them wrong. They also are very effective on those who innately tend to believe in equality, and those free, rebellious spirits who do not like the firm control of the government and religion.
☄ daily influence Earth's Defenders are very decentralized, but the group has an unofficial leader generally unknown to the masses, Sylvia Carlsen, who leads an elite force called The First Line. Preaching happens secretly, through word of mouth, a Defender opening up to another person they know of if they think their acquaintance might be receptive. They keep a low profile, choosing to quietly increase their numbers for now. Earth's Defenders' primary concern is to plant the seed of doubt, resistance and determination in the hearts of their followers.
